To visit a ‘showroom’ is to enter a space between commerce and exhibition. In fashion, design, and manufacturing, the showroom crafts an elevated experience, with select objects thoughtfully presented for the audience to consider. More importantly, it crafts a vision of the future and pulls the audience toward it.
the ShowRoom applies that construct, not to luxury goods, but to five artists whose work points to adaptations for a changing ecofuture. From material use and repurpose, to revealing water and temperature increase, to illustrating cultural impacts of policy, the artists and designers in the ShowRoom present pieces that are evocative, thoughtful, playful, and created with their utility in mind.
