Monitoring is the regular observation and recording of a system
Monitoring allows us to better understand our natural environment through the process of collecting and analyzing information. The research design for the Living Lab includes a comprehensive plan for monitoring coastal processes and environmental conditions. The monitoring plan includes instruments in the water surrounding Rainsford Island to measure water levels, currents, waves, and water quality. Additional instrumentation is planned on Rainsford Island to monitor weather conditions, erosion, ecology, and natural cycles.
