Visually Capturing Conditions on the Island
Five cameras, strategically located around Rainsford Island, provide images used for monitoring erosion and ecological conditions. This information allows researchers to have eyes on the Island as needed, when they are unable to be out there in person. Recordings of footage allow analysis of a variety of factors such as impacts to the Island from human activity and the timing of the arrival of important migrating birds. Infrared night vision and the ability to direct cameras remotely allow researchers to capture images that would otherwise be unavailable.
